WALKER, R.J. (1801-1869) 18TH Secretary of the Treasury (1845-49) under James Polk. 4th Territorial Governor of Kansas May 1857-December 1957. He financed the Mexican-American War and drafted the 1849 Bill to establish the U.S. Department of Interior. His portrait is on the 5th issue 25 cent fractional currency note.
