RUSSELL, Gail (1924-1961) American film and TV actress. Her active years in film was from 1943-1961. Her film debut was in 1943 at the age of 19. She spent many times in jail for driving while intoxicated. Died at the age of 36 from liver damage resulting from alcoholism. Very scarce photograph, 8”x10” head and shoulders pose, smiling. Inscribed and signed: “For Vernon-With my sincere best wishes Gail Russell.” From the Vernon Hansen collection. Many collections of Hollywood and reference books lack even a signature of Gail Russell. Presently there is a Gail Russell cut signature for sale on eBay for $1025.00.
