TRUMAN, Harry S. (1884-1972). 33rd President of the United States. 34TH Vice-President sworn in on Jan. 20, 1945 to April 12, 1945. After being sworn in he called his mother, and she told him “Now you behave yourself.” He was the first V/P to have a Secret Service Agent assigned to him. During his vice-presidency he only met FDR twice. On the afternoon of April 12, 1945 Truman was briefed that he had a new, highly destructive weapon.
