The World’s Top Scoring Ace
HARTMANN, Eric (1922-1993). German fighter pilot, world’s top scoring Ace credited with 352 victories. Called “The Black Devil” by the Soviets. He is credited with shooting down 352 enemy aircraft while flying for the Luftwaffe. He crash landed 14 times but was never shot down. Hartmann earned the Knight’s Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves, Swords and Diamonds, Germany’s highest military decoration.
