 KARPIS,
Alvin. (1908-1977). Criminal, Public Enemy #1 known as "Old
Creepy." The F.B.I's most wanted man. Member of the Ma Barker
Gang, sentenced for murder, bank robbery, kidnapping and train
robbery. Subject of the largest manhunt in history. Personally
captured by J. Edgar Hoover in 1936. Served 33 years in prison
and was paroled in 1969 and deported to Canada. Moved to Spain
and changed his name, died shortly after.
