- A Very Good Content Typed Letter Signed
on his personal imprinted letterhead,
d. 8 January 1965, to "Dear Monroe". In part:
"I was overwhelmed to get your scholarly letter regarding
the Offenbach score. I didn't realize the amount of research
in depth my request would produce. I am proud to know that among
my friends I have such a rich stroehouse of musical erudition.
I am filing your letter among my HAPPIEST GIRL memorabilia, which
will finally end up in the archives of Wisconsin University,
to whom I have promised all mss., rough notes, laundry bills,
etc., etc. So you will not have written this letter in vain.
It is not important to give all the answers to the Dearborn Public
Library. I am sure they will be happy with what you have given
me....." Signed, "Yipper".
