COLE, Nat King (1919-1965). American singer, pianist and actor. First black to host a TV show. On April 10, 1965 he performed before an all white audience. He was attacked and knocked down by a group of white men.. One man near the front row yelled “Negro Go Home.” During his time, his popularity was second to Frank Sinatra. He made over 100 singles with his two best known “Ramblin Rose” and “Unforgettable.” Photograph, Black & White, 8”x10” head and shoulders pose, smiling. General Artists Corporation photograph.
