Catherine II (1729-1796). Catherine the Great," Empress of Russia; took power after a conspiracy deposed her husband, Peter III (1728-1762), and proclaimed herself Czarina (1762-1796).
 
Manuscript Document Signed as Empress, in Cyrillic script, approximately 7.5 inches by 12.5 inches, one page, d. January 19, 1783, St. Petersburg, being an Imperial decree appointing a physician to the Court.
 
Reads: "Order to Court Office. We order to admit Doctor Rosberg to our court service and register him among our other court doctors." Boldly signed with a huge signature, "Ekaterina".
 
Accompanied with an attractive black and white portrait on medium stock. In pristine condition. $2,200.00
